Conclusion On Water

Shadows!

Picture the world of a little boy, about six years old. I was that boy. My world, or at least part of it, was my bedroom, with a bed near the opening of a closet that had no door.

My father was a motorcycle policeman. His uniform hung in that closet -- his uniform was a thing of much black leather and shiny silver buttons. As that uniform hung there, at night, that little boy worried a great deal about the shadows in that closet.

Perhaps it was the uniform, with the flashing silver and the smooth stretches of leather, or maybe it was the slight wind of the night moving the hanging clothing, causing slight sounds. But, I clearly remember that there was a world of shadows inside that closet -- fearful indeed, were those shadows.

My solution, one frowned on by my mother, was to creep toward the closet, stretch up on the inside of the entrance, to the string hanging down from the closet light -- pull the light on and banish the shadows.

And, thus so easy it is to banish some shadows -- shadows that looked just as real as the gray iron bars in Lake Tanganyika, or just as real as the shadows in the rear of Socrates’ Cave.

Consider the word "enlighten!" I was enlightened, and knew that by turning on the closet light the shadows would disappear. My mother didn’t like me to waste electricity, but I was more interested in banishing shadows in my little life.

I was afraid of those shadows, and discovered later in life that there were more shadows that affected my life. I’ve also learned how to vanish those shadows and now lead a life free of those hidden influences.

Is your health being affected by shadows?

Drink More Water

How much should you drink?

The first answer to that is, drink water every time you feel any pain or discomfort. Drink water every time you feel hungry. Drink water whenever you feel sleepy.

Start listening to the signals being sent by the body -- most of those signals should now be considered to be a cry for more water.

Isn’t there too much water to drink? Well, if you drink more than your body needs right then, you’ll have to urinate it out. But, just because you urinate a lot DOES NOT mean that you are drinking too much water. The water that is going through your system, causing you to urinate 15 times per day, is flushing out toxins that have been in there for decades!

How much should you drink? The more difficult question is: "How can you arrange your work, your life, so that you can visit a toilet every 30 minutes?" THAT is the real question you should answer. Because, when you start drinking enough water you will be urinating very often. In many cases the simple act of going to the bathroom, in a public place, or in an office, or where others are likely to make comments -- these circumstances will be strong negative factors. You may not drink enough water only because you don’t want the world to think you are crazy.

Really, the amount of water you should drink is NOT the question you should be asking. It would be very hard to drink too much water. You could drink some water that wouldn’t do you any good, but you can hardly drink any water, except public tap water, which will harm you. So, concentrate on changing your behavior so that you can be taking a drink of water every 15 minutes and going to the bathroom every 30 minutes.

You can’t do that? Well, then do what you can.

What Is Good Water?

Notice how important this subject is. I’ve placed it second behind the encouragement to drink MORE water. AFTER you have changed your habits and life style to regular intake of many glasses of water per day (and much more if you are perspiring or working in high heat locations).

Now let’s look at what kind of water you should drink.

Remember, the first answer is "any type of water will probably be better for you than not drinking enough!"

So, place the quality aspect of water as very secondary to the quantity aspect of your water intake.

If someone starts giving you a hard time about drinking tap water, ask them how many glasses per day they drink of ANY type of water. Most usually you’ll hear that they drink two or three glasses per day, at the most, and that they consider all the coffee and orange juice and soda as water.

Just consider them to be flat worms!

Go on to drink the large quantities I’m suggesting. THEN, when you are committed to these large quantities, you can start looking at the quality question.

There is a great deal you can do to improve your health with good water versus bad water -- once you are drinking enough!

Obviously you’ve heard that chlorine is bad for you, but maybe you don’t really know why.

Let’s get into a few of these areas.

Chlorine?

The origin of heart disease is akin to the origin of cancer.

The use of chlorine in the United States to "purify" water supplies began in the late 1890’s and gained relatively wide acceptance by 1920. Dr. Joseph Price believes there is a definite correlation between the introduction and widespread application of chlorinating of water supplies and increasing incidence of heart attacks. He writes:

It is, in my opinion, certainly one of the greatest paradoxes of recorded history that one of the very same public health measures which have been primarily responsible for the great increase in statistical life expectancy in the Western world should also unsuspectedly be responsible for many of the chronic disorders of later life.

Dr. Price maintains in atherogenesis the primary agent is chlorine. It is only one cause, but it is the essential cause.

Nothing can negate the incontrovertible fact that the basic cause of atheroschlerosis and resulting entities such as heart attacks and the most common forms of stroke is CHLORINE -- the chlorine contained in processed drinking water!

 

Chlorine is a potent agent for creating free radicals in the body. It is the free radical which causes mutations in cells, leading to cancer and, in the arteries, leading to the original damage in the artery which then results in tumors. The centers of these tumors dies! The dead tissue in that tumor actually dies because individual cells take in calcium which they don’t have enough energy to get rid of. Individual cells become calcified as they die. The cell, in its last-ditch effort to live, manufactures as much cholesterol as it can -- to keep the calcium out. The cell loses that battle and what is left is a dead cell, filled with calcium and cholesterol. THAT is the build-up of calcium and cholesterol that I, and others, have talked about for years.

Chlorine is not good for you!

Remember that drinking tap water in quantity is more important than worrying about whether or not there is chlorine in the water. But, once you are committed to drinking lots of water, you can certainly further improve your health by avoiding water with chlorine in it.

And, in the meantime, don’t miss an opportunity to frown at any employee of the City Water Department. They probably don’t believe that chlorine is dangerous, but they need to know that you disapprove of their support for the deliberate poisoning of your water supply.

Fluoride?

More people have died in the last thirty years from cancer connected with fluoridation than all the military deaths in the entire history of the United States.

The author of that quote, Dr. Burk, has spent more than fifty years in cancer research. Many of those years were with the National Cancer Institute. He began studying the association between artificially fluoridated drinking water and cancer in 1975 and, along with D. John Yiamouylannis, has published several studies. One of their studies found the cancer death rates of large US cities, having fluoridated water since the 1950’s, exceeded those in cities where fluoridation had not been started or had started much later.

 

De-Mineralized Water?

Well, it’s not good for you either!

You have probably been exposed to the controversy about whether distilled water is OK, or whether your bottled water supply should be some form of non-chlorinated, natural spring water.

The problem with de-mineralized water (often this will be the distilled water) is that it has the minerals removed. Those minerals have been shown to greatly reduce risks of heart disease. Also, the best form of minerals are those which exist in unprocessed foods. Here is a quotation on that:

Most multiple mineral formulas include the major mineral elements required by the body but not all of the trace minerals.

"Trace" minerals are those minerals which have been found essential to maintaining life, even though they are found in the body in very small -- i.e., "trace" -- amounts.

The main trace minerals currently include cobalt, copper, iodine, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, selenium and chromium. Tin was also added as an essential trace mineral as late as 1970.

Nutritional researchers are the first to admit that the work in this field is very far from complete, and there will undoubtedly be other trace minerals added to the list as such research is continued.

Currently, also, there are fairly wide differences of opinion among nutritionists as to the minimum daily requirements of the various minerals and especially the trace minerals.

Minerals are found in a wide variety of foods. Natural foods, undamaged by processing, are the best sources of minerals as they exist in unprocessed foods in the combinations in which they are most effective. But minerals can also be lacking in foods grown in mineral-depleted soil. Additionally, of course, there is no one food that supplies them all.

Therefore, it may be necessary to use more than one type of multi-mineral tablet to ensure one is getting all of the minerals, including the trace minerals, that are required by the body.

Now, if you promise to place good minerals back into distilled water, I might agree that distilled water is a good choice. The best form for those trace minerals would be from an original plant source where the plants grew on soil which was not depleted in minerals. THOSE plants contain all the trace minerals which nature intended. Plants grown today, on modern soils, are very deficient in many of the trace minerals.

There are actually deposits, here and there on Earth, where plants which grew millions of years ago are still in an organic form because they were covered up with layers of soil before they could rot away.

One that I know of is in Utah. The plant material is from more than 1,000,000 years ago. It was covered over with a layer of dirt and rocks, about 10 to 50 feet deep. It was probably covered over during some sort of earthquake that happened more than 1,000,000 years ago.

The plant material was not squeezed hard enough to change it into coal. It was covered up enough so that the organic material didn’t simply rot and escape into the atmosphere. This is a unique deposit of plant material from a long time ago.

Such organic plant material would represent an excellent source of the trace minerals in a balanced combination from all the different plants.

Unfortunately, many authors who are otherwise well regarded among health enthusiasts have recommended distilled water, with nothing added. I do not agree.

Also, minerals taken from ground-up rocks -- inorganic minerals -- are not likely to be well-absorbed in the body.
